IKAMA Surya Scholarship Reunion
Past recipients of IKAMA Surya Scholarship were gathered for a reunion at Graha Pena. Tabloid Nyata kindly invited IKAMA Surya for a reunion of all IKAMA Surya Scholarship recipients. Hosted on the 3rd floor, in a room which was normally a testing room for cooking recipes, scholarship recipients, their parents and alumni were entertained by series of speakers and a video of “Scholarship Journey” made by an alumni, Mr Bagus Kamajaya and his team.
IKAMA Surya has sponsored a total of 162 students in the past, out of whom 80 were present at the reunion. Rudy, the oldest of them all, had graduated from SMK (Vocational High School) and was now working as shoe designer. He pointed out the importance of having dreams, creativity and mentality for innovation.
Last but not least, the evening was in addition to mark Lisa Wilianto’s, IKAMA Surya’s Executive Secretary, last day. IKAMA Surya bid its farewell to Lisa who is going to pursue her Masters Degree on Australian Development Scholarship in early 2009. On behalf of IKAMA Surya we thank her for all her invaluable contributions to IKAMA Surya and wish her all the best!
In June and July 2008 IKAMA Surya administers another round of IKAMA Surya Scholarships (ISS). ISS was first given out in 2001 and this year, a total of 64 students will receive the 2008-2009 scholarship.
Information and invitation for applications were distributed to local primary schools and newspapers. By 4th July, 146 applications were received. Interviews to determine scholarship recipients were conducted on 14 and 15 July. Assisted by capable alumni such as Dr. Indrajati Kohar, Ms. Josephine Ratna, Ms. Meliani Dewi, Mr. Adi Tedjakusuma, Ms. Indra Wirawati, along with IKAMA Surya President Ms. Lucia Wulansari, 92 students were interviewed.
